An Effective Alternative to Surgery

For those looking to address aesthetic concerns and overall facial appearance but worried about the intensity of nose surgery, non-surgical rhinoplasty is a great option. This quick and relatively painless procedure uses fillers typically made of hyaluronic acid—a substance that is naturally found in the body and is well-tolerated by most people—to reshape the nose. The procedure involves injecting the filler into specific nose areas to smooth out bumps, straighten the bridge, or lift the tip. One of the main benefits of non-surgical rhinoplasty is that it can be performed in minutes with minimal downtime. The results of non-surgical rhinoplasty are temporary, lasting anywhere from six months to two years, depending on the type of filler used.

Am I a Good Candidate for Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty?

People with minor imperfections in their noses, such as a small bump or a slight asymmetry, are good candidates for non-surgical rhinoplasty. It is also a good option for people who have had a previous rhinoplasty and want to correct minor imperfections. Non-surgical rhinoplasty can also be used to correct a drooping tip or a flat bridge. However, people with significant nose deformities, such as a deviated septum or a large bump, may want to consider surgical rhinoplasty. It is essential for people who are considering non-surgical rhinoplasty to have realistic expectations. The procedure can improve the nose's appearance but cannot make drastic changes. It is also essential for people to have good overall health and no medical conditions that could increase the risk of complications.

Your Initial Consultation

The first step on your non-surgical rhinoplasty journey is to meet with Dr. Will Thompson in his Denver office for a consultation. This typically lasts between 30 minutes to an hour and involves discussing your desired outcome and expectations. Dr. Thompson will also ensure you are a suitable candidate for non-surgical rhinoplasty and explain the procedure in detail, including using dermal fillers, the injection technique, and the expected results. He will also discuss any potential risks and side effects of the procedure. During the consultation, Dr. Thompson may also take photographs of your nose from various angles to help you plan the treatment and track the results.

The Day of Your Procedure

The non-surgical rhinoplasty procedure is performed in Dr. Thompson’s office and takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete. Your nose will be cleaned and numbed with a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort during injection. Dr. Thompson will then use a fine needle to inject the filler into specific sites to reshape and contour it. The filler used in non-surgical rhinoplasty is typically hyaluronic acid-based. It is safe and biocompatible, meaning it is not harmful to the body and will eventually be metabolized and absorbed over time.

Recovery and Results

Patients may experience swelling, redness, or bruising around the injection site immediately after the procedure. However, these side effects are usually mild and will subside within a few days. It is recommended that patients avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for at least 24 hours after the procedure to prevent any irritation or infection. Patients should also avoid strenuous activities or exercise for at least 24 to 48 hours after the procedure to allow the treated area to heal correctly. In some cases, patients may experience some minor discomfort or tenderness at the injection site. Over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen can help alleviate any discomfort. Overall, the recovery period for non-surgical rhinoplasty is minimal, and most patients can resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure.
