Why BroadBand Light Therapy?

BroadBand Light targets similar skin conditions that are treated by lasers and chemical peels, but without the associated downtime and recovery. It’s more of a long-term maintenance and preventative strategy, but the results can be quite dramatic. BroadBand Light has been clinically shown to reverse the signs of aging by working at the genetic level for skin rejuvenation. It can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, hyperpigmentation, sallowness, and other signs of aging and sun damage.

How BroadBand Light Therapy Works

BroadBand Light is a type of intense pulsed light (IPL). This is a non-ablative treatment that can be used for a variety of skin conditions, including prominent blood vessels, skin redness, acne, rosacea, and hypertrichosis (excessive hair growth). It also improves signs of skin aging and sun-damage by addressing spots/discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, and poor skin complexion.

Light therapy has been clinically shown to work at the genetic level inducing changes that prevent and reverse the natural process of aging. Forever Young BBL has been scientifically shown to enhance overall facial rejuvenation by increasing uniform collagen deposition, decreasing elastosis, improving fine wrinkles, and removing irregular skin pigmentation.

Some conditions take more time to treat than others, but some results can be seen in as little as days to weeks. The best strategy is to treat skin conditions before they ever appear!

BBL Treatment for Different Skin Types

Dr. Thompson tailors the best treatment option based on each patient’s skin condition and skin type. It’s essential to seek treatment from a specialist that has knowledge with the different kinds of laser and light technology to avoid unwanted side effects and complications.

BBL Candidates

Ideal candidates are healthy adult men and women who want to improve their skin but can’t afford to take the downtime necessary after more aggressive interventions. It can also be used to prolong the results or optimize any future surgical procedure by maintaining and promoting skin health. The best candidates are proactive in skin health, use sun protection, and have realistic expectations. This type of light therapy allows individuals to reverse and prevent signs of skin aging and sun damage yielding a brighter, clearer, and more beautiful complexion.

Like skin resurfacing, it is used to reduce signs of aging and to promote younger-looking skin without the need for post-treatment downtime and recovery. You can go back to your daily routine immediately after treatment!

Additionally, BBL can be used on a variety of different areas of the body, including the neck, chest, hands, and arms.

Preparing for Treatment with BroadBand Light Therapy

Patients should avoid sun exposure before and after treatment. They should also wear broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher daily to protect their skin.

The procedure can typically be completed in a matter of minutes, but you should plan to set aside around thirty minutes of your day for the clinic appointment. Most patients do not complain of pain, but you may feel a slight warm sensation or something equivalent to the snapping of a rubber band. Eye protection is always provided.

Knowledgeable, compassionate, and an overall wonderful Dr! Always took care to answer my questions and make sure I was cared for!

Recovery From Broadband Light Therapy

Light therapy recovery time varies, but treatments typically don’t require any downtime. Depending on the specifics of each treatment, there may be some mild redness that typically fades shortly after the visit but can last up to forty-eight hours.  Redness is usually more pronounced in the chest or décolletage area. You will be provided with sunscreen after treatment and then may immediately return to work or your daily routine. Occasionally, you will notice a slight scale where the darkest brown spots were treated but typically heals without issue.
