A native of Oklahoma, Dr. Thompson completed his undergraduate studies at Oklahoma State University and obtained his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. With an early interest in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Thompson went on to complete his head and neck surgical training at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana. He trained under the guidance of Dr. Frederick Stucker, world-renowned rhinoplasty surgeon and past president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).
After residency, he pursued additional specialty training and was one of only forty-nine surgeons in the country to be accepted into a facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship sponsored by the AAFPRS.
His fellowship was completed with Dr. Stephen Smith at Smith Facial Plastics and The Ohio State University. It was during his time with Dr. Smith, an AAFPRS fellowship director and leading facial plastic surgeon, that Dr. Thompson developed expertise in cosmetic procedures including rhytidectomy (facelift), rhinoplasty (nose job), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and minimally invasive and in-office procedures (Botox, fillers, chemical peels, lasers, and in-office facelift, neck lift, and eyelid surgery).
After surgical training, Dr. Thompson obtained Board Certification from the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He then successfully passed the Board Certification examination for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
